Party Mardi

Any old fool with a floppy hat and fifty dollars to burn can catapult themselves to the top of the party heap, but only true champs can organize a celebration worthy of comparison to that famed Deep South hayride in the sky, Mardi Gras. And the annual smash-up masterminded by AMS, Mardi Gras Masquerade, is one of the few deserving of such meritorious praise. The 2009 edition is taking place Saturday, February 7th at the Hudson and Gotham Theaters in San Bernardino, CA, and it's AMS' fifth annual pass through this terrain, so obviously they're veterans at this point. Expect mass distribution of beads (ten thousand will be given away!), four freaky areas of music, an endless sea of masks, and ten dense hours of all-ages hedonistic revelry. Count the daze.

Some Kandy Talking

Last year's Kandy Festival was a psychotic rainbow orgy of endless music, sprawling activities, and thousands of strangers rapidly turning into BFFs. In short, a dense night-into-morning of magical possibilities. And guess what? Wizened LA promoter Jason Jay of Magic Entertainment has seen fit to team up with J.A.G. Events and Flash Events to bring into reality the Second Annual Kandy Festival on Saturday, January 24th, at The Hudson Theater & Gotham Club in San Bernardino, CA and this is reason to celebrate. Doors open at six PM and close at five AM, giving you 11 insane hours to run wild and paint the town candy-colored. The line-up is gloriously long and all ages are welcome. Come live the dream. Hopelessly Addicted

Let's face it: '08 was great but now it's belated, so it's time to move on, wine and dine with the '09, usher in a gilded new era of fun and functionality. And in case the head-rush of New Year's Eve has impaired your sense of history, mid-January is the historic season during which LA's legendary Addicted Events throws its annual 1Up bash. Ring a bell? Saturday, January 10th marks the fifth straight year they've thrown this frenzied funhouse and 2009 finds the stakes raised, as this time there are four arenas for getting your funk/freak on sprawled across nine fine hours. Not to mention the proceedings are all-ages, plus this entire Addict-fest is being held at the scenic 3000 capacity scenic Trevi Zone Entertainment Center in lovely Lake Elsinore, California. It's one of those “Win-Win-Win” situations. Give in.

Sin Is In

Virtue may be cold and old, but sin is back and slicker than ever, as the geniuses behind the Third Annual Sin City Massive (Umbrella Entertainment) are all too aware. Each year they carpetbomb the Southern Cali zone with a genuine monstrosity, and 2009's Sin slip-n-slide looks to be as delicious as ever. Going off Saturday, February 28th at a sneaky TBA spot in the greater So-Cal sector from six PM to four in the dawn, this 10,000 capacity megalith is all-ages, not incredibly expensive, and boasts a line-up wilder than eighty percent of the planet's New Year's Eve bashes.
