Paul That Jazz

The sun rises, the sun sets, Paul Van Dyk tours the planet: three things a human being can always count on to stay the exact same. That's a comforting thought, ain't it? Well this German lynchpin of the global dance music empire is currently hop-scotching around the United States in support of the summer season and his own wanderlust, and there's no time like the present to get back in touch with this giant and the giant audio footprints he leaves in his wake. One of his current jaunt's many stops occurs Thursday, May 15th at The Forum in Charlotte, North Carolina, and capacity is never as infinite as Paul's following requires, so those interested are advised to make haste to the ticket box and throw some shillings at the attendant. Daisy Chain

It's baaaaaack. The undying and immortal Los Angeles ravetopia, Electric Daisy Carnival, is returning in 2008 for its unsane 11th annual installment on Saturday, June 28th, and though basically the bulk of the cold hard related facts are still shrouded in mystery, a few certainties have been proclaimed by the Insomniac Events camp so we're here to spread the news. Naturally, this year's EDC will contain all the usual megalithic amenities such as five colossal stages of sound, 12 hours of “non-stop freaks, fun, and festiviteez,” and five hundred million famous performers (or somewhere in the ballpark of that number at least). Held once again at the LA Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Park and running for a marathon 12 straight hours, this is one of those parties you train for. Hit the track, Rocky.

Sweet City

The sweet life is sweet wherever it's being tasted and savored but few hoods are as constantly sugary as our dear Los Angeles, and the party committee of UG Soulz & Electric City Media recognize this fact and are taking full advantage. Hence their latest local flavor free-for-all, Sweet City L.A., which is going down Sunday, May 25th at The Factory in Downtown Los Angeles. The basic vibe of the evening is “Paying Respect To Our Local LA DJs,” and in this capacity they are unanimously successful, as Sweet City tingles the tongue with nine confectionery hours of dance sugar rush and three glittering stages packed with neon magical audio. And the maraschino cherry on top of this towering cupcake of good news? The day after the bash is Memorial Day, therefore no work, no school, no crap to keep you from rocking the heck out until four in the freaking morning.

In short, there's The Kosmic Festival: Magic/Flash going down at the Hudson Theater and Gotham Club in San Bernardino on Saturday, August 16th, then there's Dirty at Safari Sam's in Hollywood on Wednesday, May 21st thrown with the help of Star Power Productions, and lastly there's Friday Night Massive at the Hudson Theater in San B-Dino on Friday, May 16th. Who says there ain't no cure for the summertime blues?
